I’m Doug Forbes, an artist, brand strategist and graphic designer working across identity, visual systems, spatial experience and fine art.
I started as a painter, built a career in graphic design, and worked my way into brand strategy, storytelling, and the built environment. Through all of it the core has stayed the same: turning instinct, memory, tension, and ambition into visible form.
This site is where those disciplines meet. Paintings, essays, brand studies, visual experiments and spatial ideas live here as one inquiry: how feeling becomes structure, and how structure becomes something people can recognize, use, and remember.
I like to make things that feel honest. Brands, spaces, paintings, strategy, all of it. Not clever for its own sake, not chasing awards. I think a little harder about the things most people move past, and I work until it fits.
I’ve done this long enough to know taste shifts and trends fade. Clarity is what lasts, so clarity is what I aim for. The rest of the job is simpler than it sounds: listen closely, trust instinct, put in the hours. If that sounds useful to you, we’re probably on the same page.
